On April 20, the body of a foreign man was found in the Braslav district near the Lithuanian border, BelTA reports with reference to the office of the Investigative Committee for the Vitebsk region.

An investigative team worked at the scene of the incident.

The Braslav district branch of the Investigative Committee is conducting an investigation.

Earlier this year, cases of deaths of irregular migrants were recorded at the borders with EU countries on January 9, 10, 31, February 4, 10, 18 and 24, March 10, 13, April 11 and 19.

This is already the 12th recorded death of migrants.

How many lives did the migrant crisis take?

On August 4,

a migrant from Iraq died on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border not far from the Benyakoni checkpoint.

The man was allegedly found by a former soldier who lives in Voronava.

The SC of Belarus immediately opened a criminal case, relatives of the deceased were summoned to Belarus, the dead body was shown on Belarusian state TV channels.

The Lithuanian side accused the Belarusian authorities of provocation.

On September 19,

three dead migrants were found in Poland at the border.

The body of a woman was found on the Belarusian side.

One of the migrants, 37-year-old Mustafa Mohamed, was buried at the Muslim cemetery in the Podlasie Tatar village of Bagoniky on November 21.

On October 7

, the state media of Belarus wrote that the body of a fugitive from Sri Lanka was found near the Belarusian-Lithuanian border on October 5.

Next to the deceased were his documents, plastic cards and a mobile phone.

The reasons for the migrant's death were not specified.

On October 14,

another dead migrant from Syria was found in the border zone on the Polish side.

Police spokesman Tomasz Krupa told Gazeta Wyborcza that the deceased was a 24-year-old fugitive, and before that he was probably in Belarus.

He had a Belarusian visa with him, issued in mid-September.

On October 19,

a Syrian drowned in the Bug River while trying to cross to the Polish side of the border.

He was 19 years old.

He was buried in Bagoniki on November 15.

On October 22,

a migrant's body was found near Kuznica.

The police could not find out his name.

On November 18, he was buried in Bagoniki.

On October 29,

a 25-year-old migrant from Iraqi Kurdistan, suffering from diabetes, died at the border.

On November 12,

the body of a 20-year-old Syrian man was found in a forest near the Polish village of Vulka Tserakhovskaya, not far from the border with Belarus.

On the Belarusian side of the border is the Kamianets district of the Brest region.

On November 22

, it became known that an unborn child died in the womb of a migrant woman in the 24th week of pregnancy.

Two weeks earlier, the mother was taken from the Belarusian border to the hospital.

According to Muslim custom, the stillborn child was buried in a separate grave in Bagoniki.

The woman herself was in a serious condition and died on the evening of December 3.

On November 27,

the body of a migrant aged about 30 was found at the border post "Vidza" of the Polotsk border detachment.

On November 28,

another corpse of a man of non-Slavic appearance was found on the border with Lithuania.

There were also reports about the death of migrants from the "Belarusian route" not at the border.

One died in Minsk, two were found dead in Germany.
