Unit 6 of the Kozloduy NPP went into emergency repair because of a problem that existed last year as well.

We hurried to do it precisely because of the planned repair of the 5th unit and not to risk both units going out of the system at the same time.

This was stated by the Minister of Energy Rosen Hristov in an interview for BTV

Rosen Hristov has a master's degree in international economic relations from the University of California.

"The flow is in steam generators.

The steam generator weighs over 320 tons and is a set of tubes with a diameter of one and a half centimeters, 11,000 of them.

Pipes from here to Plovdiv.

There's a pin hole in there somewhere.

It's not that easy to find and plug this thing.

No radiation leaks.

The section is 10 times below the norm.

We turned it off as a precaution because security is our number one priority.

According to the plan, we expect it to be put into operation in the coming days", he added.

"We lack the equipment to do a thorough examination.

We order the equipment, it has a delivery period of a year and a half.

It doesn't depend on Russia.

The process is very complicated.

This steam generator has had problems right from the start.

During its installation, deviations from its correct introduction were allowed.

Maybe that's why he defected more often.

It is our policy to announce the shutdown and repair prior to any shutdown of the unit.

In 2020, an accident occurred again that was not announced", the minister also pointed out.

Rosen Hristov

Rosen Hristov, a master of international economic relations from the University of California, also announced that the Council of Ministers has allowed the derogation of European sanctions, which prohibit imports from Russia, so that we can order the necessary materials and spare parts for the normal functioning of the Kozloduy NPP.

"We have ensured the operation of the block.

There is no danger of shocks and interruptions.

We have a site for 4 new reactors - two in "Kozloduy" and two in "Belene", he also pointed out.

Bulgaria will buy parts for the Kozloduy NPP from Russia

According to him, there is a chance that the reactors already purchased from Bulgaria will work.

"The equipment is preserved.

Here the question is technically, financially, in terms of terms, which would be better, and this will be shown by the analyses", commented Hristov.

He also commented on the deal between Bulgaria and the Turkish BOTASH.

"1 billion cubic meters per year, that's a third of the country's total consumption.

This is gas that "Bulgargaz" purchased from traders.

We do not buy the gas from Turkey, we only use their infrastructure.

It is up to us with whom to conclude the contract.

The price is identical to the one we use for the Greek terminals, but in Turkey we have greater security", explained the Minister of Energy.

He assured that gas supplies to Bulgaria are absolutely guaranteed.

"At the moment we are a factor for delivery to other countries as well.

We have the infrastructure for that," added Hristov.
