According to the Water Conservancy Bureau, the coast of Dianbao River has been affected by extreme weather in recent years. Whenever typhoons or heavy rainfall occur, the flood waters in Dianbao River often flow back, causing the water level to rise.

The Water Conservancy Bureau first completed the Dianbaoxi A and B flood detention ponds along the Dianbao River, and fully utilized the flood detention function during the flood season, greatly improving the flooding of Baimili and Liucuoli in Gangshan District.

The Water Conservancy Bureau is striving for another 85 million yuan to build the Dianbaoxi flood detention pond. The first phase of the project was completed in 2018, with a flood detention capacity of 250,000 tons.

In order to continue to improve the flood control standards along the Dianbao River, the Water Conservancy Bureau and the legislator Qiu Zhiwei sought 120 million yuan from the central government to promote the second phase of the flood detention pond in the D area of ​​Dianbao River. The overall project has been completed, and the flood detention capacity has increased by 350,000 tons. Effectively improve flood control capacity.

The Water Conservancy Bureau stated that the flood detention pond is planned to be used for multiple purposes, with pavilions, rest benches, leisure trails around the pond, and planting of shrubs and flowering trees.

The Water Conservancy Bureau also cooperated with the city government to transplant Indian red sandalwood and other trees into the area from the "Kaohsiung City Renwu Industrial Park Development Plan Phase I Turnkey Project" to create a high-quality ecological and recreational place.

The Water Conservancy Bureau pointed out that the water space is in line with the central government's green energy policy, and a solar photovoltaic power generation system is installed to create a diverse, energy-saving and carbon-reducing recreational space for the local area.
