The CBI had registered a case against Mehul Choksi and others for defrauding PNB on February 15, 2018.

Rosso:

Wanted diamond merchant Mehul Choksi has won the court battle in the Rs 13,000 crore fraud case in India.

The Antigua and Barbuda High Court ruled in favor of Mehul Choksi on Friday.

The court said that Mehul Choksi cannot be taken out of Antigua and Barbuda.

In such a situation, difficulties may arise in bringing Mehul Choksi to India.

He has argued in his civil suit that Antigua's attorney general and police chief have a duty to investigate the cases filed against him.

In the High Court, Mehul Choksi, seeking relief to himself, said that on May 23, 2021, there should be an inquiry into his forced abduction from Antigua and Barbuda.

Taking the matter seriously, the court ordered that Mehul Choksi should not be taken out of the Antigua and Barbuda border without the court's order.

Along with this, the court also said in its decision that the Dominican police should investigate whether there is evidence that Choksi was forcibly taken to Dominica against his will or not?

The CBI has said that it will not hesitate to make every effort to bring back fugitives and criminals to India to face the process of criminal justice.

Let us tell you that in the last 15 months more than 30 wanted criminals have returned to India.

The CBI had registered a case against Mehul Choksi and others for defrauding Punjab National Bank on February 15, 2018.

Let us tell you that earlier last month, Interpol has removed the red notice against fugitive Mehul Choksi in the $ 2 billion Punjab National Bank fraud case.

Mehul Choksi was added to the red notice in December 2018.

The Indian government "strongly opposed" the removal of Choksi's name from Interpol's wanted list, but the global policy body was not convinced.
