[Reporter Wu Zheyu/Taipei Report] On April 11, the U.S. State Department approved the arms sale of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system and related equipment to the Moroccan government, with an estimated cost of US$524.2 million (approximately NT$15.96 billion).

Since 2022, based on the excellent performance of Himars on the Ukrainian-Russian battlefield, seven countries, including my country, have ordered the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system from the United States, with a total amount of US$12.6842 billion (approx. NT$386.34 billion).

Obviously, the Seahorse has become a weapon that many countries have rushed to buy in the past year, becoming the annual arms sales champion.

According to a press release from the U.S. Defense Cooperation Security Agency on the 11th, the Moroccan government has requested to purchase 18 sets of Hippocampus multiple launch rocket systems, including logistics support and other related equipment and services, with a total amount of about 524.2 million US dollars.

In the past year, my country, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Poland, Australia, Estonia and Morocco have also rushed to purchase the Seahorse multiple launch rocket system, and Latvia is also trying its best to buy it from the United States.

So far, Hippocampus has served in Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Romania and Ukraine.

Poland has the highest purchase amount because it purchased more than 2,000 various precision rockets and guided missiles at one time.

my country added 864 rockets and 20 guided missiles in last year's additional purchases.

The U.S. Defense Cooperation and Security Agency pointed out that this arms sale will assist Morocco in dealing with current and future threats, and will help increase Morocco’s ability to control its borders, and can share the responsibility of the British Army’s assistance in combating terrorists in East and North Africa.

In addition to the threat of terrorists in Africa, Morocco also has a sovereignty dispute over Western Sahara.
