Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova responded to the false and baseless claims of the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament about our country at the briefing dedicated to the results of the 55th plenary meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states held on April 14 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

According to the press and public relations department of the Milli Majlis, the speaker said that during the 30-year occupation of the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan, the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, as a representative of a country that destroyed our forests and nature reserves, illegally exploited our natural resources, and polluted the land and rivers, Azerbaijan has no moral right to talk about any "environmental concerns" in its sovereign territories.

The chairman of the Milli Majlis noted that the Armenian side for some reason is silent about what the International Court considers groundless and completely rejects Armenia's claims regarding the organization and support of protests on the Lachin road by the Azerbaijani government, as well as the suspension of natural gas supply and other public services from Armenia.

The decision of the court is also consistent with Azerbaijan's position regarding the inadmissibility of using the Lachin road for illegal military and economic purposes.

Sahiba Gafarova said in the briefing that the absurdity of some "terrorist" claims against the Armenian citizens of Azerbaijan is that these claims committed ethnic cleansing and mass murders during the 30-year occupation period, forced nearly 1 million Azerbaijanis from their native lands, and destroyed all the historical and religious monuments belonging to Azerbaijan. put forward by a representative of a country that brutally destroys.

Sahiba Gafarova also emphasized that the claims regarding Azerbaijan's occupation of Armenia's sovereign territory are completely groundless.

As a country that occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territories for 30 years and still occupies 7 villages of Gazakh district and Karki village of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Armenia should return to the negotiating table and continue work on the peace treaty and the delimitation of the Azerbaijan-Armenia border.
