The strengthening of the rhetoric of the Armenian authorities aimed at interfering in the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, as well as in its internal affairs, is a serious concern.

According to the press and public relations department of the Milli Majlis, these views were expressed by the speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, during her speech at the 55th plenary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states on April 14, within the framework of her business trip to the Russian Federation.

He noted that, contrary to the commitments, Armenia still has not fully withdrawn its Armed Forces from the Azerbaijani territories where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed.

About 10,000 servicemen of the Armenian armed forces are still in the territory of Azerbaijan.

Also, Armenia uses the Lachin road for the transportation of mines, military equipment and weapons, for the rotation of personnel in the territories of Azerbaijan where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, as well as for the transportation of illegally exploited minerals of Azerbaijan to Armenia.

The Speaker of the Parliament drew attention to the fact that the peaceful action held by the representatives of the civil society of Azerbaijan on the Lachin-Khankendi road starting from December 12, 2022 is directed against this.

Lachin Road should be used only for humanitarian purposes.

The fact that more than 6,000 vehicles of Russian peacekeepers and the International Committee of the Red Cross, people in need of medical assistance, and humanitarian cargo passed through the Lachin road unhindered proves that Armenia's claims about the closure of this road and the so-called "humanitarian disaster" are completely unfounded and false.

The speaker emphasized that Azerbaijan's proposal to establish a border checkpoint on the Lachin road at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border will ensure transparency in the use of this road, but the Armenian side is not interested in it and does not accept the proposal.

Also, in accordance with the Tripartite Declaration, it still does not fulfill its obligations regarding the opening of the Zangezur corridor.
