New Delhi:

Asad Ahmed, son of Uttar Pradesh's Bahubali Atiq Ahmed and accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, was killed in an encounter in Jhansi on Thursday.

UP Police and STF were following Asad Ahmed for almost two months.

Along with Asad, the shooter Ghulam has also been killed.

There was a reward of five lakh rupees on both.

5 points of Asad's encounter: -

  • Asad Ahmed was wanted in connection with the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal, a witness to the murder of BSP MLA in 2005.

    Umesh Pal was murdered on 24 February 2023.

    Umesh Pal was shot dead outside his house in Prayagraj.

    The security guard engaged in his security was also shot.

    In the CCTV footage of the incident, he is seen with a gun. 

  • According to police sources, Asad fled to Lucknow after being shot.

    The murder of Umesh Pal in broad daylight has raised big questions on the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.

    After this, the police swung into action to nab the people involved in it.

    Asad kept changing his hideouts to escape from the police.

  • Asad fled from Lucknow to Kanpur.

    Police sources said that from there he went to Meerut and stayed there for a week.

    After this he went to Delhi and lived there in Sangam Vihar area.

    After this he went to Ajmer.

    From there he planned to go to Madhya Pradesh.

    Police sources said that while constantly changing locations, Assad also changed 10 SIM cards to escape from the police.

  • Uttar Pradesh police sources told that he had an informer in Atiq Ahmed's gang, who kept giving him information about Asad's hideouts.

    As soon as Asad reached Jhansi, the police started raiding places in the city to catch him.

    Asad and Ghulam, co-accused in the murder case, had left for Madhya Pradesh on a bike on Thursday.

    He had also changed his disguise to escape from the police. 

  • A team of UP Special Task Force keeping an eye on Assad intercepted both on their way to Madhya Pradesh.

    According to the police, Ghulam fired at the 12-member police team.

    Asad and Ghulam were shot in retaliatory firing by the police.

    About 42 rounds of firing were done during the encounter.
