A Miamisburg, Ohio man admitted to a patrol officer that he shot his girlfriend in the chest.

Footage from the uniform's body camera shows 53-year-old Brian Mason approaching the officer and calmly telling him what he did.

Listen, I'm here to surrender.

There was an accident last night.

A friend asked me to show her how to handle a gun, and I fired a shot and hit her in the chest.

I ran scared all day, the man admitted, after which he was arrested on the spot by the officer.

"I'm coming to surrender because it's the right thing to do," adds the man.

In his words, the woman "in all probability died".

"At the moment he fell to the ground and I was scared," he says.
