From the warning of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States), it became clear that the drug-resistant fungus Candida auris is rapidly spreading in the United States, and the number of clinical cases has tripled in 2019-2021.

David Engle, an infectious disease doctor, writes about this in Finance.yahoo.

The fungus Candida auris is one of the causative agents of human candidiasis.

Affects the circulatory system, central nervous system, kidneys, liver, bones, muscles, joints, etc.

It is resistant to many drugs commonly used to treat fungal infections.

"Every day, more and more fungi are developing resistance to the existing arsenal of treatments. And without effective drugs to fight these infections, many of which can be fatal, we will eventually face a significant outbreak of fungal or other microbial infection," writes the researcher, Dr. infectious disease specialist David Engle.

In 2019, more people died from antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections than from HIV/AIDS or malaria.

Deadly fungal infections are also on the rise, fueled by increasing rates of resistance to treatment.

Globally, such pathogens claim more than 1.6 million lives each year.

"If we don't develop new treatments, the impact of drug-resistant infections will only worsen in the coming years. By 2050, resistant infections could kill up to 10 million people annually. The vast majority are completely harmless. And I'm happy to report that the body's immune system knows how to fight off most of those that potentially threaten humanity," the researcher notes.

Earlier it was reported that a new type of mosquito that carries very serious diseases is spreading across Europe.

The day before, experts reported a mysterious infectious disease that causes headache and fever.

Because of it, it is known about at least five dead people in Tanzania in the east of Africa.
