The Ministry of Communications stated that before the opening of National Highway 7, the Ministry of Communications has given priority to promoting the container-only lane project. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic next year to relieve Kaohsiung Hong Kong traffic.

Premier Chen Jianren inspected the National Highway No. 7 Kaohsiung road section plan today (11th) and declared his support for land, sea and air construction in the Kaohsiung area, including the improvement of Xiaogang Airport, Kaohsiung MRT and National Highway No. 7. Minister of Transportation Wang Guocai said that when he was the director of Kaohsiung City Transportation Bureau in 2007, China 7 started the feasibility study. Because the environmental impact assessment took 10 years, the construction design was only approved on March 23 this year. The container volume of Kaohsiung Port has grown rapidly in the past 10 years , National Highway No. 7 was completed in 119, and will provide convenient transportation to Kaohsiung Port in the future. Before the opening of National Highway 7, the Ministry of Communications has given priority to promoting the container-only lane project.

The Highway Bureau of the Ministry of Communications stated that National Highway No. 7 is 23 kilometers long and passes through 7 administrative districts in Kaohsiung. 7 interchanges have been set up, with a total cost of 135.79 billion yuan. The construction plan was approved by the Executive Yuan on March 23 this year. Design work was started on March 27, and construction is scheduled to start in 2026 and be completed and opened to traffic in June 2030.

The Expressway Bureau stated that it will cooperate with the Kaohsiung City Government to coordinate the acquisition of land and the relocation of pipelines to fully coordinate, accelerate the project, and complete the project as soon as possible to improve traffic.

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Qimai said that Kaohsiung folks have been looking forward to National Highway 7 for a long time, and thank the Executive Yuan for its support and approval. The city government will cooperate with the central government in the future, hoping that the project will be completed and opened to traffic as scheduled.
