The earth bank is expected to be completed by the end of next year, and more than 50,000 residents in Yuanchang are expected to escape the nightmare of flooding

[Reporter Huang Shuli/Yunlin Report] The second phase of the Kezicuo Row renovation project started yesterday, with a total cost of 102.5 million yuan. It is the last mile of the renovation of the Kezicuo Row. It is expected to end the flooding nightmare of Tuku, Yuanchang with more than 50,000 residents and 2,000 hectares of land flooded.

The Water Conservancy Department subsidizes 102.5 million

Kezicuo Dapai is about six to seven kilometers long. It flows through the earth bank and Yuanchang, and joins Beigang Creek at Beigang. It is one of the important drainage channels of Yuanchang and Earth bank. The surface flooding force does not meet the protection standard, and the embankment overflows and becomes a disaster in case of heavy rain.

A villager in Zhuoyun, Yuanchang Township said that in the past, when there was a heavy typhoon and heavy rain, Kezicuo could not discharge the flood water in time, and the farmlands and villages along the coast were flooded.

Including waterway regulation, diversion and bridges

Xu Hongbo, director of the Water Conservancy Department of the county government, said that the Kezicuo River has been rehabilitated by sections for more than 20 years. The construction was completed; the ground was broken yesterday for the second phase of the project, with a subsidy of 102.5 million yuan from the Water Resources Department.

Xu Hongbo pointed out that in the second phase of the project, about 630 meters of drainage roads will be rehabilitated, and more than 300 meters of waterproof roads, drainage behind embankments and roads will be improved, and diversion box culverts will be installed on township roads to reduce the overflow situation around the canals. In addition, the improvement of Bei'an Bridge and an unnamed bridge will cost 41 million yuan, and the total construction period will be about 400 calendar days. It is expected to be completed by the end of next year.

Xu Hongbo pointed out that the county government has a complete and perfect plan for flood control in the county. He is grateful to the Water Conservancy Department for its full support and assistance in solving the drainage bottlenecks in various regions and the treatment of flood-prone areas. It is hoped that the decades-long flooding nightmare of the residents of Tuku and Yuanchang will be ended, and the safety of life and property will be guaranteed.
