The main church holiday - Bright Resurrection of Christ in 2023 will be celebrated by Christians of the Eastern Rite on April 16.

On the occasion of the holiday, on the eve of Holy Saturday, festive services will begin, many Ukrainians will go to church to consecrate the Easter basket.

It is important to do it correctly, not all products can be consecrated.

What can not be celebrated on Easter

  • It is not allowed to consecrate any alcohol, vodka, beer, etc., except kahor.

  • It is forbidden to consecrate blood sausage.

  • It is not allowed to bring material values ​​to the church - money, keys, jewelry, etc.

  • There is an opinion that supposedly consecrated products should be cut with a consecrated knife.

    But it is not so, than in no case can you sanctify.

What should be put in the basket and what can be consecrated

  • The most important thing is, of course, Easter, which symbolizes the body of the resurrected Christ, the victory of life over death.

    It is not for nothing that the apostle Paul noted in his letter to the Corinthians that the Passover is Christ sacrificed.

  • Eggs, Easter eggs, eggs are a symbol of new life and resurrection.

  • Dairy products, cheese, butter - just as a baby wants its mother's milk, so does a person of God's grace. 

  •  Meat products.

    Their sanctification stems from the Old Testament Passover, when they consumed the sacrificial lamb.

    It is not for nothing that Jesus is called the Lamb of God. 

  • Horseradish is the root of faith in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

  • Salt in the Bible symbolizes the way of communication between God and his people.

    During the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus calls the disciples "the salt of the earth."
