[Reporter Cai Yahua/Taipei Report] To prevent noisy vehicles from disturbing residents, the Taipei City Environmental Protection Bureau introduced a fixed sound and camera system in 2021. By last year, it had installed 10 road sections to ban excessively noisy vehicles, with a total of 1,457 Among them, the section of Yangde Avenue is the "noisiest" section with the largest number of cases. The Environmental Protection Bureau stated that there will be an additional 10 road sections with fixed sound cameras this year. Law enforcement will start in April, and the maximum fine will be 3,600 yuan.

Over 1,000 pieces of Yangde Boulevard were banned, the most

"Sound camera" uses noise meters, anemometers, license plate recognition cameras and other equipment to record whether the noise generated by passing vehicles exceeds the standard. The Environmental Protection Bureau stipulates that the speed limit of roads below 50 kilometers should not exceed 86 decibels; the speed limit is 50 kilometers to 100 kilometers. For the 70-kilometer road section, the volume cannot exceed 90 decibels, and the penalty for exceeding the standard by 5 decibels is 1,800 yuan.

A fine of 2,700 yuan from one to ten minutes later, ten.

A fine of 3,600 yuan above 1 decibel.

Half of the locomotives illegally modified exhaust pipes

The Environmental Protection Bureau pointed out that the sound and camera system has banned a total of 1,457 vehicles with excessive noise last year, and half of them were motorcycles that violated the regulations. The reason was that the exhaust pipe was modified, and the highest noise was 104 decibels.

In addition, among the ten road sections where sound cameras were set up last year, No. 64, Section 1, Yangde Avenue was banned the most, with a total of 457 cases, followed by No. 227, Section 1, Neihu Road, with 236 cases, and No. 227, Section 1, Zhongshan North Road. On the 13th, 109 cases were banned, ranking third.

This year, 20 law enforcement locations with sound and photography will be set up, including the first section of Yangde Avenue, the first section of Dongshan Road, the first section of Neihu Road, the third section of Huanshan Road, the third section of Chengde Road, the second section of Minquan West Road, the second section of Keelung Road, the second section of Heping East Road, and the second section of Zhongshan North Road. Section 2 of Minquan Road, Section 2 of Zhizhi Road, Section 3 of Bade Road, Section 5 of East Nanjing Road, Section 1 of Dadu Road, Section 5 of Xingyi Road, Section 5 of Civic Avenue, Section 6 of East Zhongxiao Road, Section 1 of South Chongqing Road, Section 3 of Roosevelt Road and Section 2 of Xiyuan Road.

The maximum fine for exceeding the decibel limit is 3,600 yuan

Yan Lingzhen, the inspection team of the Environmental Protection Bureau, said that the locations added this year are due to public feedback that there is often noise pollution, and they are also included in roads that are prone to drag racing, or last year's mobile banned hotspots.

In case of environmental interference, such as rain, honking, etc., the background volume will be compared for three seconds before and after, and the video will be manually reviewed. If it is determined to be vehicle noise, a penalty will be issued.
