New details have become known about the investigation of the high-profile case concerning the former head of the SBU department in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea

Oleg Kulinich

.

We will remind, according to the SBU and the SBU, the latter was one of the most influential agents of Russia in Ukraine.

According to the law enforcement officers, the investigation has information that

Kulinich, on the eve of Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine, blocked the transmission of aerial intelligence information

that Russian equipment and the occupiers were ready for an attack.

"The pre-trial investigation involving the former head of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Crimea, Oleg Kulinich, has been completed," said Tetyana

Sapyan, communications advisor of the SBU

. "The successful implementation of this special operation and the detention of this Russian agent (in July 2022 - Ed.) became possible as a result of the principled position of the state leadership. After the accused gets acquainted with the materials, the case will be brought to court. The investigation established that the official knew in advance about the plans of the Russian Federation to attack Ukraine from the temporarily occupied Crimea, but deliberately hid this crucial information from the leadership and forbade sending

any documentation on this matter to the central office of the SBU

.

In the first hours of the invasion, he deliberately blocked any attempts to inform the leadership of the SBU and society about the real situation in the region, did not take any measures to protect state sovereignty, instructed personnel to leave the place of duty, later issued staff weapons to people who had nothing to do with SBU

In addition, the official himself left the place of permanent deployment and left for Kyiv on February 24."

In a comment for

TSN.ua

, Tetiana Sapyan talked about how long Kulinich could have been an agent of Russia.

"I think we should go back to 1989, when Kulinich became a student at the KGB school. He graduated in 1994.

We assume that even then he became a "sleeper" agent who was activated after 2014

, after the Revolution of Dignity. Oleg Kulinich is not leaving to cooperate with the investigation, therefore, the information and evidence base collected by the SBI is the painstaking work of investigative and operational teams," Sapyan told us.

In addition, in a comment for TSN.ua, Tetiana Sapyan answered the question of how far in advance Kulinich knew about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"I think I knew in advance and knew for sure that it would be at 4 o'clock in the morning on February 24, hiding this information from the central apparatus of the SBU," Tetyana Sapyan answered us.

The SBU emphasizes that the detainee is a top state traitor.

"We

did our best not only to detain a top state traitor, but also to collect a powerful evidence base

. It will allow the court to issue a fair verdict. One of the initiators of this special operation was the current head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk. He personally worked out and detained this suspect ", SBU spokesman
