Chinese leader

Xi Jinping

does not call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky because he is "very busy".

However, countries maintain frequent contacts at a lower level.

This was stated by the Chinese ambassador to the EU, Fu Tsun, The New York Times writes.

"I know that people are fixated on the presidential call. The fact that President Xi is not talking to Zelensky does not mean that China is on Russia's side on the Ukrainian issue," he said.

It will be recalled that The Wall Street Journal wrote that Chinese leader

Xi Jinping plans to hold a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion after his visit to Moscow.

Xi Jinping's three-day visit

to Russia began on March 20.

Ukraine offered China to take part in the implementation of the peace formula

from President Zelensky.

The proposal was conveyed publicly and through diplomatic channels.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr

Zelenskyy stated that he had not received proposals for negotiations with the Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Volodymyr

Zelenskyi also invited the leader of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, to visit Ukraine.

In Beijing, they declared that they would support dialogue with all sides of the "Ukrainian issue".

However, they do not have specific information about Xi Jinping's visit to Ukraine.

Later, China's representative to the European Union, Fu Cun, said that

Beijing "does not rule out the possibility" of talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Volodymyr Zelenskyi

.

It can be either a phone conversation or a meeting.
