The BJP has been continuously hitting back at Rahul Gandhi to apologize for his statement on Savarkar.

New Delhi:

Controversy over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statement on Savarkar is not taking the name of stopping.

Now Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attacked the Congress and Rahul Gandhi over the statements made on the late Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar.

Addressing the 'Savarkar Gaurav Yatra' program, Fadnavis said that these leaders would tell the public that Savarkar had written letters to the British officials from jail, not for himself, but for fellow prisoners.

Rahul Gandhi has given this statement many times that he is not Savarkar and he had apologized to the British.

However, the BJP has been continuously hitting back at Rahul Gandhi to apologize for his statement on Savarkar.

The BJP has been raising this issue prominently from Parliament to the road for a long time.

Hitting out at Congress leaders, Fadnavis said, "It was Savarkar who, after his return from Andaman jail to Ratnagiri, started several activities to bring about social reforms. Savarkar had said that unless we ended untouchability, Till then will never become a great nation. But those who are born with a golden spoon, they call them Mafivir."

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader claimed that after independence, a congratulatory motion for Savarkar was moved in Parliament by a member from West Bengal and was opposed by everyone except one person from the Congress party.

Fadnavis told the gathering, "His name was Feroze Gandhi, who was Rahul Gandhi's grandfather."

Attacking Rahul Gandhi further, Fadnavis said that you have no idea about this country nor do you know its history.

That's why you are neither Savarkar nor Gandhi.

Fadnavis also attacked Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray for forging an alliance with the Congress, saying, "I want to ask Uddhav Thackeray whether Rahul Gandhi has deleted any of his tweets insulting Savarkar Thackeray also offered flowers to the portrait of former prime minister and Rahul Gandhi's father Rajiv Gandhi. But has Sonia or Rahul Gandhi ever done this for late Balasaheb Thackeray?"
