Lithuanian ministries claim that if Russian President

Vladimir Putin

came to their country , he would be arrested immediately.

Lithuanian politicians are also talking about possible provocations from Russia, which will show that the warrant is not valid.

On March 17, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Russian President

Vladimir Putin

and the Commissioner for Children's Rights in Russia

Maria Lvova-Belova

for the deportation of Ukrainian children:

"When we talk about the warrant for Putin's arrest, we are talking about the Rome Statute.

It was ratified by more than 100 countries of the world," said Lithuanian Justice Minister

Evelina Dobravolska

Among these countries is Lithuania.

According to the minister, Lithuania was the initiator of his arrest, therefore, if there was such a reason, it would have arrested Putin:

"Beyond any doubt, (he) would have been detained and handed over to the International Criminal Court.

And I am sure that we would be proud and happy about it.

The investigation was started thanks to Lithuania," said the Minister of Justice of Lithuania.

The head of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Defense of the Seimas of Lithuania,

Laurinas Kaschunas

, said that he himself would take care of Putin's detention:

"I can truly say that in Lithuania he would have been arrested.

I would personally take care of it, don't worry.

Lithuania's hand will not waver," said the politician.

The Transportation Security Administration indicated that Putin's plane cannot legally fly to or fly over Lithuania.

Not because of the warrant, but because of the sanctions against Russian aviation:

"It is very important that the position of the European Union countries is the same in relation to this criminal," said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania,

Agne Bilatajta

.

But the sanctions do not prohibit Putin from arriving by land.

"Everything depends on which of the departments will record it, and then the police and other departments will work.

We have well-trained employees who are ready to work in special situations," said the minister.
