The storm system that hit several regions of the US threatened a swath of the country where some 85 million people live.
Debris removal and cleaning work begins in countless locations in the South and Midwest of the United States, after the devastating scourge of a storm system, full of tornadoes, which devastated everything in its path this Friday.
At least
26 people have died
victims of these tornadoes, present in eight states of the country: Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Ohio.

The dead include at least nine in one Tennessee county, four in the small town of Wynne, Arkansas, three in Sullivan, Indiana and four in Illinois.
It is feared that
the number of fatalities will increase
with the passing of the hours.
The authorities of the state of Alabama specified that an elderly person died in Huntsville when a tornado hit his house, they also reported five deaths in the communities of Cross and Pulaski.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado and severe storm watch in the northeast of the country, particularly in Ohio.
There is an Enhanced Risk of severe storms for parts of Northeast Texas today (Sunday).

Due to bad weather, more than 997,000 customers in 14 Midwestern states remain without power.
On Friday night and early Saturday, the disaster reached the city of Belvidere, Illinois, when a powerful tornado caused the roof and part of the facade of the Apollo Theater to collapse, in the middle of a concert by a heavy band metal.
Belvidere Fire Chief Shawn Schadle confirmed one person was killed and 28 injured in the disaster, five with serious injuries.
Authorities in the neighboring state of Indiana confirmed the deaths of three people after a storm swept through Sullivan County.

half a million homes and businesses lost power
Saturday, 200,000 of them in Ohio alone.
In Arkanas, its governor,
Sarah Huckabee Sanders
, declared a state of emergency Friday, activating statewide National Guard assistance.
All this comes just one week after another series of tornadoes, this time in Mississippi, killed 26 more people.
More tornadoes
are expected to occur over the next week .
