Presidential elections were held in Montenegro on Sunday, April 2.

According to the voting results, Yakov Milatovych won, who will hold the post of president for the next five years.

He confidently defeated Mila Djukanovic, gaining 60% of the vote, reports the Montenegrin publication RTCG.

Milatovych, who was voted for by the majority of citizens, ran for president from the "Europe Now" party.

At the same time, he was supported by pro-Serbian and pro-Russian parties.

Earlier, they tried to destabilize the situation in the country, slow down its accession to the EU and expand relations with the Russian Federation and Serbia.

Yakov Milatovic managed to outvote Mila Djukanovic, who with his party has been in power in Montenegro almost continuously for the past thirty years.

Djukanovich served four terms as prime minister and two terms as president.

As is known, Milatovych's participation in the presidential elections became a sensation, because he actually "jumped into the last train" by leading the Europe Now party already at the stage of registration.

Earlier we reported that the unexpected result of the elections in Montenegro could change support for Ukraine and affect the whole of Europe.
