With the successive opening of routes within its jurisdiction, the New Taipei City Government plans to set up a MRT police team to be responsible for MRT security work. In addition to the existing Danhai MRT detachment , Sanying, Xidong, Xinshu, Anhuan, and Wutai MRT police units will be set up to carry out on-board patrols, violence and sexual harassment prevention and other duties.

Police Chief Liao Hsun-cheng said that in line with the future vision of the third ring road and six lines, the New Taipei City Government is planning to set up a MRT police team similar to Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Kaohsiung City, and Taichung City, and will be responsible for coordinating MRT security work.

Referring to the experience of the Taipei MRT Police Team, in addition to intimidating security messages on the MRT system to investigate and deal with, more common security incidents include sexual harassment, secret photography, theft, and violence against station staff.

Liao Xuncheng pointed out that in addition to the existing Danhai MRT detachment responsible for the safety maintenance of the Danhai Light Rail, an Anhuan detachment will be established in response to the Ankeng light rail and the Xinbei Loop Line that have been opened to traffic, and 16 police officers will be deployed. In the future, the New Taipei City MRT police team will work with The Anhuan MRT police unit is expected to be stationed in the machine factory space at the 14th Station of the Loop Line.

In addition, for the MRT Sanying Line, Xinbei Shulin Line, Xidong Line, Wutai Light Rail and Taiban Light Rail lines under construction or planning, the Sanying MRT Team, Xinshu MRT Team, and Xidong Line will be formed respectively. MRT detachment, Wutai MRT detachment.

The Police Department stated that it will be established as soon as possible according to the completion schedule of each MRT line, and there is no exact timetable at present.
