More than 200 people were evacuated from a coal mine in southern Russia after it filled with smoke, Reuters and TASS reported.

The accident occurred at a depth of 190 meters in the "Obukhovskaya" mine, which is located not far from the town of Zverevo in the Rostov Region. 

It is currently unclear what caused the accident.

It is not reported whether there are still people underground.
