Torrential rain caused flooding in Sydney today, prompting rescue operations, and authorities warned of more rainfall in the coming days, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Emergency services have received 50 calls from local residents, mainly to place sandbags to protect properties and provide support to repair leaking roofs in Australia's largest city.

Authorities said two people were pulled safely from cars stuck by flooding in Sydney's inner suburbs.

There were 27 calls for help from the area around the city.

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Sydney today.

She predicted heavy rainfall and possible flooding, and also warned of more rain in the city in the coming days.
