The Central Committee of the Central Council of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Taifa has congratulated the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Government Accounts (CAG) and the Institute for Control and Combating Corruption (PCA) for working professionally and showing the areas improved by the government.

The committee also commended the institutions for identifying weaknesses and giving advice on the areas that need to be worked on in the reports they submitted to eliminate waste of public assets.

This was said by the Secretary of the Central Committee of CCM Nation, Ideology and Propaganda, Sophia Mjema when she spoke to the media at the Small Office of the CCM Headquarters, Lumumba, Dar es Salaam yesterday.

Mjema said the congratulations were part of the resolutions issued by the committee in the regular session held under the Chairman of the National Party, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

"The committee met in a regular session under the Chairman of CCM Taifa, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has congratulated both governments (mainland and Zanzibar) for implementing the CCM election manifesto for the year 2020/2025 for the development of Tanzanians," he said.

He said the report has shown that the government has been able to improve many areas by 99 percent in implementing development but is also disappointed with areas that showed weakness due to waste.

"The committee has received and discussed in detail various national issues, including the report of the CAG and PCC 2021/2022 which were presented and found that the government has continued to improve services for citizens, including control and focus on spending where 99 percent have received clean documents," he said.

He said, however, there are areas that still need to be worked on, including the strengthening of revenue collection systems and the problem of systems not being compatible while adding that this has been caused by the presence of some unscrupulous executives and caused losses to the government.

Mjema said in the meeting, among other things, the committee issued several resolutions for further improvement, including directing the government to take firm action against all those involved in breaking the law and causing waste of citizens' property.

The committee also wanted the government to monitor the leaders who abuse the leadership bond and fail to put the interests of the country and patriotism first, instead they put personal interests first.

In addition, he said the committee congratulated the government for coordinating the visit of the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, who made a three-day visit to the country, which was said to strengthen economic and diplomatic relations for the two countries.
