(Central News Agency) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday called Russia's presidency of the United Nations Security Council "ridiculous", suggesting the body's authority and credibility are "totally bankrupt".
Russia took over the presidency of the Security Council today, Reuters reported.
The presidency rotates on a monthly basis, and the last time Russia held the post was in February last year, when Russian forces launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

In his evening speech today, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that "unfortunately, we ... have some news that is obviously quite absurd and damaging".
He also said that yesterday's Russian shelling killed a 5-month-old boy.
"At the same time, Russia has assumed the presidency of the UN Security Council. It's hard to think of anything more evidence that these institutions (the authority and credibility) are completely bankrupt," he said.
Zelensky also said that now is the time for an overhaul of global institutions, including the Security Council.
"Reform is clearly necessary to prevent terrorist states and other would-be terrorist states from disrupting the peace."
The Kremlin said yesterday that Russia intends to exercise "all rights" of the presidency.
The United States on March 30 called on Russia to "behave professionally" after taking over the Security Council presidency and said there was nothing to stop Russia's presidency.
