US Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Mark Milley said that Ukraine is unlikely to remove all Russian forces from its territory this year.
APA reports that the American general spoke about this in an interview with Defense One.
"I don't think it can be done this year. President Zelensky has repeatedly stated publicly that the goal of Ukraine is to expel every Russian soldier from the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia, and this is an important military task. A very, very difficult military task. You we see that there are still several hundred thousand soldiers in Ukraine occupied by Russia".
The general added that it is not impossible that Ukraine will be able to completely liberate its territories this year.
"I'm not saying that it's impossible to do, I'm just saying that it's a very difficult task. But this is their goal and, of course, they have the right to it, this is their country. And the confidence and mood of Ukrainians in this regard is strong." - Mark Mally emphasized.
