He explained how the new school bomb alert protocol, adopted by the interagency commission, works.

"In the event of a bomb threat, the director organizes a physical inspection of the premises and notifies the authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. When the police arrive, the inspection continues and if nothing suspicious is found, the instruction is given to continue the educational process. If there is a subject that does not belong there, then the building is evacuated and specialized services are called, which have a procedure and a way to find out what it contains," explained Stanev.

The 17-year-old, who was identified as the author of the bomb threats against dozens of schools in the country in recent days, faces up to 5 years in prison and a fine of 10,000 to 15,000 BGN.

He is currently in custody for 24 hours.

He will be held responsible for the bomb threats from Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, explained Stanimir Stanev.

The threats from the beginning of this week - Monday and Tuesday - are not his work, but originate from abroad.

The alerts from Wednesday to Friday were from four mailboxes set up by the youth, as well as two phone calls made by 15- and 16-year-old students.

According to investigators, the 17-year-old was inspired by the first series of hacker attacks.

"His motives are related to these previous alerts. He received information and decided to emulate this hacker group. There is also another motive - he did not feel like going to the young man's school. He did this in front of his classmates who witnessed The signals from Wednesday to Friday are his work," Stanev pointed out.
