Human rights defenders from the "Memorial" center and the "AVD-Info" project appealed to the European Commission and the Council of Europe with a call to draw attention to the criminal prosecution of the resident of Tula, Russia, Aleksei Moskalev, the father of the schoolgirl who drew an anti-war picture.

The authors of the letter ask the international authorities to use all available means to prevent the extradition of Moskalev from the Republic of Belarus to Russia.

Human rights activists also point out that it is necessary to seek the transfer of Moskalev to a third country – safe and ready to receive him.

  • In April 2022, Masha Moskalyova drew a picture in an art class.

FSB officers "interviewed" the girl, and her father was initially charged with "discrediting" the Russian army, and then a criminal case was opened against him for repeated "discrediting".

  • Aleksei Moskalev was sent under house arrest, and Masha was sent to a shelter.

On March 28, Moskalyov was sentenced to 2 years in prison.

He escaped the night before the sentencing.

According to one of the versions, Maskalev did not get rid of his mobile phone and turned it on in Belarus.

That's how the Belarusian policemen were able to find and detain him.
