Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström congratulated Finland on NATO membership and said that the government will work hard for his country to achieve membership.
APA reports that this was stated in a statement released by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"We are happy for Finland. This is an important step forward for our brother country, and membership will strengthen the security of both Finland and Sweden. However, as Finland has stated, this process will not be completed until Sweden is also a member," - Minister of Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström said.
The minister said that the government continues to work for Sweden to become a member of NATO.
"The government will now work tirelessly for Sweden's membership, and our goal is for Sweden to be a NATO member by the time of the Vilnius Summit," Billström said.
