It is no coincidence that the beginning of the presidency of the Russian Federation in the UN Security Council began on April 1, on April Fool's Day and April Fool's Day.

This opinion was expressed by the representative of the EU for foreign affairs, Josep Borrell. 

A post with a corresponding statement was published by a European official on Twitter. 

"Today's start of Russia's presidency of the UN Security Council is just right for the first of April. Despite the fact that Russia is a permanent member of the Security Council, it constantly violates the very essence of the legal framework of the UN. The EU will oppose any abuses by the Russian presidency," - stressed Borrell.

It will be recalled that earlier the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the head of Ukrainian diplomacy Dmytro Kuleba reacted to the beginning of the chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the UN Security Council.

The leader of the state said that "terrorists must lose, and not preside anywhere."

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Russia is illegally in the UN Security Council, so it should not chair there either.
