The Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa has inaugurated the Emergency Patient Building at Ruangwa District Hospital in Lindi region which cost Shs 390 million.

Speaking to the residents of Ruangwa who came to witness the launch yesterday, Prime Minister Majaliwa said he was satisfied with the construction and especially since he found that there are modern facilities.

"All these are the fruits of the good work done by President Samia Suluhu Hassan and they have helped make our district one of the fastest growing districts," said the Prime Minister who is a Member of Parliament for Ruangwa State.

He said that the hospital is built on an area of ​​100 acres where the work of building a fence is huge, so he asked the residents to be the guardians of the infrastructure and medical equipment purchased so that they can continue to get quality and reliable services.

"This area has 100 acres. I strongly request that we be the guardians of these facilities that are here and never participate in any plan to push development back," he emphasized.

And the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Godwin Mollel said the Sixth Phase Government within one year has provided Sh51.4 billion for national and regional hospitals.

"For regional hospitals throughout the country, our President has given 54.2 billion shillings and in the area of ​​equipment, within this one year he has given 290.9 billion shillings," said the Deputy Minister of Health.

Deputy Minister, Office of the President, Regional Administrations and Local Governments (TAMISEMI), Dr. Festo Dugange said the building that was launched is among the 80 buildings built in the country using Covid-19 funds.

In Lindi Region, similar buildings have also been built in Liwale and Kilwa districts.

Dr. Dugange said in the first phase, Ruangwa District received Sh2.9 billion whose buildings have been completed and now President Samia Suluhu Hassan has sent Sh800 million to build modern wards that will have modern equipment as well.

Ruangwa District Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Salvio Wikesi said the project is expected to have 22 buildings which until its completion is expected to cost Shs 7.5 billion.

"The hospital is continuing with the construction of five buildings in the third phase, which are the emergency services building, the surgery building, the mortuary building, the men's surgery ward and the women's surgery ward.

"Until now, the project has cost an amount of 390.72 million shillings, which is an increase in equipment and an amount of 90.72 million shillings that has been used to strengthen the area of ​​the hospital because it had a lot of water underground and therefore the construction preparations from the foundation stage to the foundation needed strengthening the foundation of the building," said Dr. Wikesi.

He said that along with the completion of the building, the government also provided modern medical equipment and the Ministry of Health sent an X-ray machine, a machine for cleaning equipment before surgery and a machine for monitoring the patient during surgery.
