A senior Ukrainian representative today criticized Russia's assumption of the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, calling it a "symbolic blow", reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
"This is not just a disgrace. It is another symbolic blow against the rules-based system of international relations," wrote in English on Twitter Andriy Yermak, chief of staff of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Today, Russia took over the presidency of the UN Security Council, which rotates every month.
She last served as rotating president in February 2022, when her troops invaded Ukraine.
The Kremlin said yesterday that Russia plans to "exercise all of its rights" as president of the Council.
USA: Russia has no seat on the UN Security Council
The US urged Russia on Thursday to "behave professionally" during its presidency.
According to Washington, there is no way to stop Moscow from taking over the presidency.
