April Fool's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world on April 1 every year.

This day is not an official holiday, but it has gained wide popularity as a day when we joke and tell funny jokes to our friends, family, colleagues.

Why is this day April 1st?

Some attribute the origin of the holiday to ancient Rome, where in the middle of February they celebrated the Feast of Fools (Festus Fatuorum).

There is also another version, according to which we owe this holiday to the Neapolitan King Monterey, to whom a fish was served to stop an earthquake.

Another story tells that the holiday of humor was born in England in 1860.

English gentlemen were invited to a solemn ceremony of "bathing the white lions," which was to take place on the 1st of April. The English did not suspect the strange ceremony, and brought their wives to the place indicated. This joke was talked about for a long time afterwards, and 40 years later April 1 was called April Fools' Day.
