A series of avalanches killed four people in northern Norway within a few hours, local authorities said.

One person died in an avalanche in the municipality of Nordrejsa, a Tromsø police spokeswoman told the news agency En The Be last night.

Earlier yesterday, another person was swept away by an avalanche in Lingen, and two more on the island of Reinjoia.

Yesterday afternoon, a total of 4 avalanches fell in the northern Norwegian region of Troms, reports BNT. 

An avalanche swept away snowboarders in the Italian Alps
