The U.S.

State Department

said that they do not yet see signs that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is ready for serious negotiations to end the aggression against Ukraine.

This was stated by the official representative of the US State Department, Andrea Kalan,

She noted that diplomatic settlement always has its place, but must also have its time.

"I would like Putin to sit at the table (negotiations - ed.) and confirm that he wants to speak the language of diplomacy. But what we see is the continuation of his aggression against Ukraine. And he is not ready," Kalan said.

She noted that the US authorities are now focused on providing Ukraine with all the opportunities for advantage on the battlefield, so that the Ukrainian military can defend the country from Russian invaders.

"So that later, when the time comes to sit at the diplomatic table, Ukraine would have the strongest position," the diplomat added.

It will be recalled that earlier it was reported that Putin's spokesman Dmytro Peskov told the Kremlin elite at a secret party in Moscow

that the war against Ukraine would last a long time

.

This did not suit everyone present.

In addition, we previously reported that Russians have become less supportive of the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine.

At the end of March 2023, 72% of residents

of the Russian Federation support "the actions of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine."

A month ago, this number was 77%
