Six people from two families, including a child, were found dead in a swamp in Canada near the US border, BTA reported, citing Canadian police.

She believes the people who died were trying to enter the US illegally from Canada.

The bodies were found yesterday near the overturned boat belonging to a man who is still missing, Deputy Chief of Police Lee-Ann O'Brien announced at a press conference today.

One tenth of France's residents are migrants, according to national statistics

"The six people appear to be from two families, one of Romanian origin and the other of Indian origin," she said, adding that the dead child was under 3 years old.

The second child of the Romanian family, whose passport was found with one of the dead, has not yet been found and the police are still looking for him.

Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy and toxicology tests to determine the cause of death.
