On Friday, March 31, NATO officials notified staff of a ban on downloading the Chinese social media app TikTok, citing security concerns.

This is reported by CNN with reference to its own sources in the Alliance.

"Cyber security is a top priority for NATO.

NATO has strict requirements for identifying applications for official business use.

TikTok is not available on NATO devices," a high-ranking Alliance official told the publication.

Downloads of the app were banned due to concerns that the Chinese government could access TikTok user data through its Chinese parent company, Bytedance.

The US, Great Britain, Norway, the European Parliament and other countries have already banned the app from government devices.

TikTok CEO Shou Choo has previously insisted that the company is completely independent from Beijing, saying there is "no evidence that the Chinese government has access to this data."

He added that TikTok transfers its data to the American company Oracle to store it in the United States.

Still, Western governments remain skeptical.

We will remind you that a petition appeared on the website of the President of Ukraine with a call to ban the popular Chinese social network TikTok in the country.
