Svetlana Tsikhanovskaya said that during the visit she held 17 official meetings - at the White House, the State Department, the US Congress, the Ministry of Labor and trade unions.

Also, there were meetings with politicians, representatives of three dozen organizations, including the International PEN Center, the human rights organization Freedom House, the American Lawyers Association, the Committee to Protect Journalists, as well as a meeting with the Belarusian diaspora.

Here is what Tsikhanovskaya says about the results of the visit:

  • During the visit, the United States announced the launch of a strategic dialogue with democratic Belarus.

This means that already at the end of 2023, democratic forces will formalize cooperation with the US government.

Representatives of the Coordination Council and civil society of Belarus will be invited to the dialogue.

Demsyl will develop a strategy for Belarusian-American relations, and restore all contacts that were destroyed by Lukashenko.

  • In the next few months, the USA will appoint a special envoy for cooperation with democratic forces.

He will be the main contact person between democratic Belarus and Washington.

  • The USA does not support the easing of sanctions on the transit of potash fertilizers through EU countries, which the regime's lobbyists are actively working on.

  • The USA will keep the amount of aid to Belarus in the amount of 30 million dollars.

This money will be used to support independent media, human rights defenders, NGOs and the repressed.

  • The US Congress has begun work on a new law on democracy, sovereignty and human rights in Belarus.

This law will help make US support more systematic and consistent.
