The report indicates that the mother's roommate hit the 4-year-old boy several times in the stomach and body.

The child died from his injuries.

"On March 30, the police received a report about the death of a 4-year-old child in one of the houses in the Novokodat district of the city of Dnipro. During the examination, physical injuries were found on the boy's body," the report says. 

Employees of police department No. 3 of the Dnipro district police department found out that the mother's roommate was involved in the child's death.

The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. 

On March 31, the investigators informed the detainee that he was suspected of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Art.

121 (intentional grievous bodily harm causing death) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The maximum punishment for the crime is up to 10 years of imprisonment.
