The effect of Western Disturbance persists in North-Western India, due to which it rained with strong winds for the second consecutive day in the national capital on Thursday evening.

Officials of the Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information.

The Meteorological Department has predicted similar weather on Friday as well.

Water-logging has been reported in some areas of West Delhi, while incidents of tree falling have also been reported in Civil Lines, Rohini and other areas of the National Capital Region.

According to a police official, two teenagers were injured when a wall collapsed in Noida.

The incident took place around 7 pm when the teenagers took shelter near a wall at a construction site in Sector-44 to avoid rain and strong winds.

Traffic was also affected at major junctions due to water-logging on the roads due to heavy rains.

The Safdarjung observatory in the national capital recorded 5.8 mm of rain between 8.30 am and 8.30 pm.

Palam observatory recorded 1.1 mm of rain, while Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar recorded 7.6 mm, 4.5 mm and a little rain, respectively.

Hailstorm has been reported in East Delhi.

According to the IMD, parts of Delhi including Patel Nagar, Rajiv Chowk, Safdarjung, Lodhi Road, Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate, Delhi Cantonment and Buddha Jayanti Park received light rain accompanied by thunderstorm.

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall on most days of the week between March 30 and April 5 in Delhi and adjoining areas like Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The Meteorological Department has warned that strong winds can cause damage to plantation, horticulture and standing crops.

It has said that there may be partial damage to the vulnerable structures due to strong winds and rains.

After the rains, water-logging was reported from many areas of South Delhi.

According to the IMD bulletin, the maximum temperature in Delhi was one notch above normal at 33.4 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 17.8 degree Celsius.

On Friday, meteorologists have predicted a generally cloudy sky and light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places and strong winds and hailstorm.

During this, the maximum and minimum temperature is expected to be 27 degree Celsius and 15 degree Celsius respectively.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Delhi recorded a 24-hour overall air quality index (AQI) of 170 on Thursday, which falls in the 'moderate' category.

Significantly, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor' and Between 401 and 500 is considered 'severe'.

According to the IMD, the relative humidity in the national capital was recorded at 75 per cent at 5.30 pm on Thursday.
