New Delhi:

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday unearthed the alleged 'cash-for-treatment' scam at the central government-run Safdarjung Hospital.

Along with doctors, touts have been caught demanding bribe from poor people for treatment, charging more bills from patients.

After this, Delhi's Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj held a meeting with senior officials of the Health Department and HODs of various hospitals on Friday.

He reviewed the measures adopted to prevent corrupt practices in Delhi government hospitals and to stop the interference of illegal touts.

Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj gave several instructions in the meeting:-

If any touts do touts in hospitals by misleading the patients, then action should be taken against them immediately.

All hospitals should renew their rate contracts as soon as possible, so that patients can get full benefit of health facilities.

- Maintain your register related to the treatment of all hospital management patients, in which complete information including the name of the patient, the date of arrival on the first day in the hospital and the date of surgery.

To make the system more transparent, every HOD in the hospital should maintain a register related to patients.

Instructing officials, Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said, "All hospitals should ensure adequate supply of medical implants. It should be ensured that patients do not have to wait long for surgery."
