[Reporter Chen Zhengyu/Taipei Report] KMT Kinmen County Legislator Chen Yuzhen asked the Executive Yuan to evaluate the construction of the Jinxia Cross-sea Bridge during an inquiry today (31).

Executive Premier Chen Jianren responded that this involves transportation, national security, cross-strait relations, geopolitics and other issues, which are relatively complicated, and there is no such plan at present.

The Legislative Yuan will continue its General Inquiry on Policy today, and Premier Chen Chien-jen will lead the heads of various ministries to attend the inquiry.

Chen Yuzhen questioned that the people of Kinmen are very concerned about the "Jinxia Bridge". The last two Kinmen county magistrates have expressed their support. According to polls conducted in the area, about 75% of the local people support the construction of the Jinxia Bridge.

Chen Chien-jen replied that the Jinxia Bridge involves transportation, national security, cross-strait relations, geopolitics and other issues, which are relatively complicated, and the government currently does not have such a plan.

Chen Yuzhen asked, why is it unsafe to build a bridge?

Maybe it can promote cross-strait relations, or what impact will it have on national security?

Regardless of whether the government thinks it is feasible or not, at least an assessment must be made, and local public opinion in Kinmen must also be considered.

Chen Jianren tactfully responded that the construction of this bridge requires multi-level considerations, but the current preliminary evaluation results of the government still need to be considered again.

Chen Yuzhen is also concerned, and hopes to include Kinmen as a national scenic area and get the budget from the Ministry of Communications for construction. This does not conflict with the nature of the national park; if there is no new national scenic area in the future, but cross-county and city-level projects can be carried out, such as with Matsu Merged into Jinma National Scenic Area.

Chen Jianren responded tactfully that this seems a bit far away; Minister of Transport Wang Guocai said that it is now a national park and the Ministry of the Interior has invested a lot of funds.

Chen Yuzhen said that 200 million yuan a year is only enough for the personnel budget, but there is no construction, and the national park focuses on ecological conservation, but it still needs to be developed for tourism.
