Karnataka BJP MLA poses for photo by climbing idol of Lord Ram

New Delhi:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Karnataka is facing all-round criticism for 'disrespecting' Lord Ramachandra on Thursday on the occasion of Ram Navami.

Sharnu Salgar, MLA from Basavakalyan assembly constituency in Bidar district, was seen garlanding the statue of Lord Ram by placing his feet on it, whose videos and pictures are going viral on social media, and sharp questions are being asked to the BJP and its leaders.

Sharnu Salgar was also seen posing for photographs by keeping his feet on the statue, which angered many devotees.

Congress posted this video on social media and raised questions regarding the claim on 'Hindutva' and reverence for Lord Ram.

The Congress also mentioned several other incidents when it accused BJP leaders of insulting deities.

The Congress also questioned whether he was really the savior of Hindu Dharma, as he claimed.

Defending his act, Sharnu Salgar said that he did so on the request of party workers, and he had no intention of doing so on his own.

The state is going to vote in a single phase for the 224-member Karnataka Assembly on May 10, and the results will be announced on May 13.

It is believed that there will be a tough fight between the ruling BJP and the main opposition Congress, but Janata Jal Secular (JDS) can also reach the role of kingmaker.
