Eleven shepherd dogs - German and Belgian - came to live and serve in the Kyiv region from the Netherlands.

This event took place on the anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv region from the Russian invaders.

At the same time, the unit's creation day was celebrated in the canine center in Irpen.

Service dogs in the police and army now receive special attention.

They are the ones who help demining de-occupied territories, search for explosive objects.

And also - to save children and old women.

This is reported in the story of

TSN

.

The canine expert of the National Police Yevhen Poltoran said that his ward, service Belgian shepherd Ares, found a dead elderly man in the forest only in the last month and quickly searched for two children who were lost.

And Ares can track down and arrest any criminal.

When the Russians captured Kyiv Oblast a year ago, Ares and Yevhen's family found themselves under occupation.

Evgeny himself was fighting at that time.

Coming out of the almost blocked Irpen, the dog then saved a group of people who were being taken out of the occupation.

"Someone then released the staff, who ran into the crowd.

He strangled that staff, but he himself was left without a piece of his paw.

That staff bit him a little", - says the policeman.

In the canine center in Irpen during the occupation, a few employees and only ten animals remained.

A year ago, enemy shells also flew here.

All the local buildings were destroyed, and unfortunately, one service dog died from shrapnel.

As the head of the canine center Maksym Pishchansky said, there is currently no possibility of breeding service dogs here.

However, despite this, now there are already 63 service dogs.

A third of them were handed over to the police from the Netherlands in recent months.

One of the international charitable foundations helped in this.

Nine Belgian and two German shepherd dogs arrived in Kyiv region from the Netherlands only the day before.

Dog breeder Valentyna Naumenko, who takes care of the newly arrived shepherd dog Polly, says that these dogs are very willing to learn.

"No matter what task you give them, they immediately take everything by ear, memorize it and continue working," she says.

In order for Ukrainian four-legged pets to also feel the attention, dog trainers arrange for them to train.

The dogs carry out commands, search for explosives, and practice exercises to apprehend criminals.

We will remind, in one of the villages near Kyiv, a family drama unfolded, the victim of which almost became a baby.

A service shepherd named Grim helped to save the child.
