Russia has enough resources to continue the war against Ukraine this year and possibly next year, but the "major offensive" it announced turned out to be a "bust".

In an interview with Ukrinform, the representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense Andrii Chernyak said.

He noted that the Russian army was unable to conduct strategic offensive operations.

"The so-called "big offensive" announced by propaganda for several months turned out to be a "bust" for Russia - they did not get any significant result," Chernyak said.

The representative of the GUR stated that the enemy is currently trying with all its might to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

In turn, the task of Ukrainian forces is to carry out effective countermeasures and inflict maximum losses on the enemy.

"If we talk about an inertial scenario, i.e. one where the current intensity of hostilities is maintained, the available resources of the Russians will be enough to wage a conventional war in 2023 and, possibly, in 2024," Chernyak believes.

He added that if the Western countries increase the sanctions pressure, then the critical difficulties for the Russian aggressors will begin earlier.

We will remind, earlier it was reported that the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said that

Ukraine is preparing a counteroffensive this spring, but it cannot be perceived as a decisive moment in the war against Russia

.

In addition, we previously informed that the coordinator of international projects of the Razumkov Center, military expert Oleksiy Melnyk stated that one of the scenarios of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, which will soon begin, is to frighten the enemy so that their entire front collapses, as was the case during the liberation of Kharkiv Oblast

and Kherson
