Nine people died in the accident with military helicopters near the Fort Campbell base, in the American state of Kentucky, the BBC reported.

A spokesman for the US Armed Forces said today: At this stage we can confirm the deaths of nine service members.

We express our condolences to the relatives of the deceased.

"The Ministry of Defense added that they would hold a press conference later," added the British media.
