In the town of Oscoda, Michigan, USA, a 23-year-old woman was sentenced to life in prison after she stabbed her daughter 17 times.

Justine Johnson killed three-year-old Sutton Mosser "on SpongeBob's orders."

Dailystar.co.uk writes about it.

The tragedy happened two days after the child's birthday.

Prosecutors said Johnson's brother came across a garbage bag with the child's leg sticking out of it in the early morning hours of Sept. 17 at the woman's home.

He called the police.

Officers arrived at the scene and recovered Sutton's body, but the mother was no longer at the scene.

She was found four and a half hours later and taken into custody, where police questioned her about the gruesome find.

In response, she said she did not want to discuss it.

At a preliminary hearing, Child Protective Services investigator Ryan Eberline told the court that Johnson admitted to being at her mother's house, where she and her daughter lived at the time.

Johnson told Eberline that she went outside and fell asleep in a nearby cemetery.

When she regained consciousness, she returned home and tried to commit suicide before killing her daughter in an illusion that "SpongeBob told her".

"She told me she didn't remember the details of what happened. She was hallucinating because of the withdrawal from heroin and she didn't sleep for about two weeks. The TV told her to take her daughter's life or she would be killed," Eberlein said. in court

Johnson admitted that she was hallucinating before her daughter's death and could not remember how her mother left Sutton alone with her or any details of the gruesome murder.

She claimed that she learned of the child's death only after the police told her what had happened.

"I want everyone to know that I am full of remorse and I wish every day that I could switch places with my daughter," she said.

Johnson also told the court she suffered from a number of mental health problems for which she was not taking medication.

She also said that she used illegal substances before the incident.

Last month, Johnson pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree felony murder and one count of first-degree child abuse in connection with the death of her daughter on Sept. 16, 2021, saying she was motivated to do it because she wanted to "justice" for his daughter.

In addition to the life sentence, Johnson also received a maximum of 50 years on the child abuse charge, which will run concurrently with the life sentence.
