Tomorrow, March 31,

is the day of memory of St. Cyril of Jerusalem

in the Orthodox calendar .

He was a presbyter of the Jerusalem Church.

In 350 he became a bishop.

At that time, Jerusalem was under the authority of the Metropolitan of Caesarea and Saint Cyril did not like it at all.

He was removed from his post three times at the initiative of the Caesarian bishop Akakis, who wanted Cyril to accept the heresy of Arianism.

On the feast of Pentecost in 351, when a holy sign in the form of the Lord's cross appeared in the sky above Jerusalem, Cyril sent a message to the pious king Constantine.

He spent a lot of energy on pacifying the Jerusalem flock, and even more on fighting heretics.

He even signed a condemnation against the latter during the Second Ecumenical Council.
