With the purpose of facilitating communication and timely interaction between doctors and family members of patients, this week an innovative interview service by videoconference between specialists and representatives of patients admitted to the institution began at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin Provincial University Hospital in Holguin.

This initiative allows doctors, after concluding an interventional act and from the Surgical Unit itself, in addition to explaining how the operation occurred, to exchange online with relatives, who are in the Information Center, where there are premises equipped with television and webcam to achieve the conversation in real time.

In the same way, for the moment, the Neonatology Unit was also integrated and in the coming days those of other closed rooms will do so, such as the Intensive and Intermediate Care Unit;

Cardiology, Burns and delivery rooms and Oncology.

The creator of the project, Osvaldo George Rodríguez Pérez, head of the hospital's IT Group, explained that with this service, as well as immediacy in specialized information on a patient's condition, it gives confidence and relief to patients and their relatives.

He said that beyond saving time for the doctor, he reports saving resources.

"Remember that the medical, nursing and other personnel in closed rooms and operating rooms use sanitary clothing, so that when they leave there and return to their post they must have other clothing of this type at their disposal."

Rodríguez clarified that the online interviews will never displace the personal ones, because in the cases that are required, the specialists will go down to the Information Center to provide clarifications or other details that the relatives need to know.

In the same way, he highlighted that all the technology used was donated by the Mipyme SalvaPC of the province, with a long history of collaboration with "Lenin", in terms of resources destined for the institution's computer development, which is reverted in favor of the people. .
