French President Emmanuel Macron

Emmanuel Macron was born on December 21, 1977 in the city of Amiens.

He is the youngest president to present today a strategy for the protection of water resources, which foresees a reduction of water consumption in France by 10 percent by 2030, DPA reported, quoted by BTA

"This is, above all, a water strategy for the efficient use of water in the long term," said the head of state of the Western European country

One of the measures to limit consumption will be an increase in the price of water above a certain limit, which will be paid by consumers using larger quantities.

The French president stressed that limiting water consumption is imperative because, due to negative climate change on a global scale, water resources will decrease by between 40 and 50 percent by 2050. He recalled the unusual drought in France last winter.

Macron's plan also calls for increasing the use of recycled water, from 1 percent currently to 10 percent in 2030.

Among the other measures envisaged are the reduction of leaks in the water network and changes in the use of water in agriculture.
